Domestic Short Hair - orange and white - Small - Adult - Male -
"I'm a survivor!" Hurricane Katrina. Terrible flooding that was way over his head! Finally, rescued by some Alley Cat Allies volunteers and taken to a safe place in Mississippi. A road trip to Tucson, and a home in the desert at Casa de losGatos. Butterscotch knows he's a lucky fellow each day when he chows down on his canned food, and stretches in the sun. His days are filled with play and being petted and snoozing, and sharing cat thoughts with his buddies. Even after he came to Tucson, his adventure wasn't over. He's postive for FIV, but he knows that doesn't matter much since most FIV cats live a long and normal life. But then, he lost weight and didn't feel well. He had to be rushed to an emergency clinic and spend several days there. What was wrong? His blood sugar was all out of whack, and he was diagnosed as a diabetic. Lucky for him, it's easy to keep him healthy and happy with special cat insulin. One injection in the morning, and one in the evening, along with good food that is made for diabetic cats. He's so stable now he can also munch regular cat food with his friends whenever he wants to. Butterscotch KNOWS there is a wonderful person out there just waiting for him, maybe someone who knows all about diabetes because they have it too! He will be so happy when you call and want to meet him! Even if you aren't planning to adopt a cat right now, Butterscotch likes to have visitors. Come by and meet this special boy who has come through so much. He likes to tell his story, and he will listen to yours, too.
